ABOUT THE PROJECT

Overview

Lufthansa's then-present mobile application did not fully align with its brand identity and customer expectations. The app lacked a modern, intuitive interface and often fell short in providing a smooth and efficient booking experience. I worked as a UX and UI designer with primary focus on improving the user experience and creating a visually appealing and intuitive interface.

WHY THIS PROBLEM?

Motivation

The Brand

Lufthansa is a symbol of German innovation and excellence. As a globally recognized aviation brand, Lufthansa is a representation of the best of German engineering and ingenuity and it’s success is source of national pride.

Impact

The company’s brand reputation can impact it’s ability to attract customers, retain employees, secure business partnerships and provide a high quality service to it’s customers.

Present Situation

However, the-then present Lufthansa application did not fall in line with the brands vision of high-quality airline.
In a highly competitive airline industry, providing an exceptional digital experience can give Lufthansa a competitive edge.

DEFINING THE PROBLEM

Opportunity

By redesigning the Lufthansa mobile app, I aimed to create a world-class digital experience that would elevate the brand's reputation and attract a new generation of travelers. The goal was to develop an app that would simplify the booking process, provide real-time updates, and offer personalized features that would exceed customer expectations.

CRAFTING EFFECTIVE SYSTEM STATUS

Simplified Flight Status

The app showed the real-time data integration system that fetched the latest flight information directly from the airline's central database. This ensured that users always had access to the most up-to-date information, reducing anxiety and improving their overall travel experience.

PRIORITISE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Decluttering User Interface

The initial app bombarded the user with too much irrelevant information in the first go. I focused on simplifying the user journey, eliminating unnecessary steps, and prioritizing the most important information. The goal was to create a clean interface with clear call for actions.

ESTABLISHING BRAND IDENTITY

Visual Language

As I moved into the design phase, I paid close attention to the app's visual elements. I chose a clean, modern aesthetic that was both visually appealing and easy to navigate. I used clear and concise language, avoiding jargon and technical terms.

INCORPORATING USER FEEDBACK

Testing

Throughout the design process, I conducted usability testing to gather feedback from real users. This iterative approach allowed me to identify and address any usability issues early on. By incorporating user feedback, I was able to refine the design and create an app that was truly user-centered.

TO SUM IT UP

Final Product

The final product was a testament to the power of user-centered design. The app was not only functional but also beautiful, providing a delightful user experience. By focusing on the user's needs and preferences, I was able to create an app that was both practical and enjoyable.
